Zen and the Art of RSS

It took me two days, but I sorted through my Google Reader and got rid of all of my folders and tags (I had gone srsly tag crazy)—streamlining all feeds into three, more simple and self-explanatory folders: work, play, and maybe.  I unsubscribed to dozens of sites that haven’t updated in forever and tried to keep only the blogs that add value to my life in some way.  Like you know, indexed and stuff white people like

The “maybe” folder will be for new blogs I discover and want to test drive.

This morning I went from top to bottom and got through every single solitary one of my blog feeds.  I know, right?  I had empty folders for three whole seconds before Perez updated.

I am beginning to like this new organized me.

I really need to do the same thing. Also, to hell with tags. I find tags to be such a pain in the butt.  but also? I have a hard time reading the blogs and sites in my reader because it’s so daunting.

Even sites I really like… people I really like… I’ve had to stop reading them because they’ll update like 10 times a day and I just don’t have time to weed through all their entries to get to the other entries that I don’t read.  lol.

The intent is there… I want to read them. I feel bad when people say, “Didn’t you read my blog?” No, no I didn’t and it’s not personal.  It’s lack of organization and too. many. feeds.
