Change of Season

I was reading Mel’s post about how August sucks and I have to agree.

The week before Labor Day is always the strangest time for me.  I am thinking ahead to the fall (the season in which I am most productive) and ready to get back into focus and routine.  Yet I’m not quite there yet.  This is limbo week, don’t you think?  I don’t think I’m alone on this, a lot of my clients and colleagues seem to suffer from the same malady.

Things get strangely boring in August.  I can feel the bubbling underneath the surface, the productivity surge is coming. It’s just not here yet.

It’s like microwave popcorn in the first minute and a half, this week.  Next week it’ll miraculously all come together and pop, pop, pop, pop-pop-poppoppop.

Maybe I’ll just go to the state fair and try to enjoy this time, rather than sitting around waiting for the season to change.

I miss soup.

I miss shorter days.

I miss sweaters.

I am sick of watering my flowers.

I am tired of the sun beating down on me mid-day, forcing me to turn on my fan at full steam and nail down all the papers on my desk with various weighted objects.

Bring on the fall.

I love Fall.
I love pants, and jeans. I love closed-toe shoes, and boots. I love sweaters, I love cooler days where I can work outside in old jeans and flannel shirts and not break a sweat. I love raking leaves and putting them down as mulch.

I love fall baking and cooking. Pumpkin pies and breads, cranberry bread, spice cake, apple pie, cookies… mmmm.

I love eating meals with friends on our patio, with our little firepit in full blaze and jackets and throws handy to wrap ourselves in when the sun dips below the horizon.

I love the spiced teas, the hot chocolate…

I am also ready for Fall.
