Beauty Queen

I’ve always had a modest disdain for beauty pageants. I believe they are sexist and vulgar.  If you’re into them, don’t be offended, I don’t care all that strongly about it. I’ve had friends that were into them big time, and I totally get that little girls want to be “pretty” and have fun participating in them.  I think it’s weird, and harmful to women, and I could argue the point all the live long day, but who listens to a feminist’s ideological rants with interest anymore?

What’s always struck me as particularly strange about pageant gals is how they all develop and keep “that look”—you know what I’m talking about—Sarah Palin has it:  the perfectly coiffed hair, the always-present/perfectly-applied lipstick, the gobs of eyeshadow just teetering on trashy but never crossing over ... how do they do that?!

The purpose of the beauty pageant ritual, I suppose, is to prepare young women to be poised, elegant, articulate, and well-rounded.  Therefore such as.  Ugh.

HAAAAAA!

Sarah truly looks stupider by the hour. All she has to do is open her mouth and talk.

To her defense, I note that when she started this campaign she was a very confident speaker and was an asset to her party… until the party began to feed her what she could and could not say. Now she can’t think on her own, can’t form a cognitive sentence etc.

Hmmmm is this sort of like Bush? Initially he was himself he was a truly “fun guy” to know, the guy you want to have a beer with etc. His like-able character was what connected him with his voters.

Do you remember the debate with Bush being fed his answers by earphone? Cheney feeding him his bullshit lines?

But Bush it turns out cannot even think cognitively let alone put two sentences together.

The Republican party always seem to look for the perfect “fall guy” (or gal) that they can control and pull the puppet strings. They got that with this ridiculous choice of Palin. Had McCain went with his gut and been his maverick self, he would have chose Lieberman.

But this shows the the Republican party is not willing to let their choice for president lead. They still want to call the shots. As a puppet, Bush now has no value to them. Now, they won’t even take his calls (heh heh).

Seriously.  Who is it that is willing to put this woman one step from being the leader of our country?  Someone please explain how any rational person upon watching her do these interviews can truly believe that she is fit to lead?  Someone?  Anyone?  I haven’t seen her say anything even remotely intelligent.  Someone has to say, “Sarah… listen… you’re a nice lady, I’m sure.  And we’re sure you mean well… but you’re in waaaaaaaay over your head here.  For the love of GOD, step down, please!”

I have never watched a vice presidential debate before.  This one, I am going to watch with popcorn.  I love a good train wreck.

Well, the popcorn was good.  The train wreck wasn’t quite as exciting as I’d hoped, though.  She did manage to speak English through most of her debate.  Though it was obvious from her first comment right on through to the end that she was only going to say the things that she had rehearsed.

Yeah, that’s what we need.  A Vice President who can only deal with things that are rehearsed.  Great googly moogly!

She is definitely not ready and not fit to be the next vice president.  She says the same things over and over again, Matt is right she is just saying the things that she rehearsed.

Enjoyed the popcorn…

Palin chose to not answer anything that was off script by saying “I’d like to go back to the energy discussion...”

She side-stepped most of the hard questions this way. It is the only thing she is interested in talking about. Energy solutions that include billions that would go to the state of Alaska in the way of production...jobs...etc. Her only agenda.

Now I don’t blame her for looking out for Alaska, but drilling for oil is not going to make the US energy independent. It is a bandaid at best.

Sarah Palin should be an actress. I think she would better fit the role than a politician.

I am 100% sure that Sarah Palin will not win. She will not be able to do anything that would benefit our country.
